"Eligibility for coronavirus testing in Mecklenburg County is changing and the county is working on scaling up testing, with the goal of testing 55,500 people over a 30-day period. To hit the goal, the county needs to test nearly 13,000 county residents a week, Health Director Gibbie Harris has said. In the first week of working toward the goal, the county fell short but administered close to 10,000 tests over a 7 day period in early May."

The county having a goal of tests, and whether or not that goal is achieved, puzzles me. Is the goal something to give residents confidence that tests are available?

There appear to be ample tests available in NC as well as in the state's largest city/county, and people by now know that there's a rationale (symptoms?) for getting a test.

If Charlotte/Mecklenburg residents aren't coming forth for testing in sufficient numbers to satisfy the goal of the county health department, what does that mean?

I hope this doesn't turn into a pissin' contest about anything.
